HOSPITAL VISITATION - Daily visits to those in the hospital by ministers or members to offer encourage-

ment and prayer.       


FRIENDS MINISTRIES -  Members that call or send cards to those who have lost a loved one. 


SHUT-IN MINISTRY -  Visits by members who regularly call or spend time with those who are unable to

attend church services. Tapes of the sermons are made available to those unable to attend. Members carry 

Communion elements and serve them communion on the fourth Sunday of the month. 


HEARTBEAT-  This ministry is designed to help start the healing after the loss of a loved one to suicide. Losing a loved one to suicide results in the need for a more complex healing. Meeting with others that are experiencing the same type of grief helps to move forward andfind the new normal in lives that have been left devastated by the loss of a

loved one. Meetings are the second Wednesday of  each month from 6:30 to 8:30 pm in the LRUMC Conference Room. HEARTBEAT is a Christian ministry sponsored by Contact Lubbock, Inc. Please check out www.contactlubbock.org. 


GRIEFSHAREIf you’ve lost a spouse, child, family member or friend, you’ve probably found that there are

not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel. It may behard for you feel optimistic about the future. GriefShare is a special seminar and support group for people  grieving the lost of someone close. This group is sponsored by people who understand what you are experiencing and want to offer you comfort and encouragement during this difficult time. Each session includes a video seminar and group discussion. The workbook assists you with note taking, journaling and grief study. The videos feature top experts on grief recovery, dramatic reenactments about living with

grief and real-life storiesof people who have experienced losses like yours. During the small group discussion time,you’ll have the opportunity to interact with others who have exper-ienced a recent loss, learn about their experiences and share your own. You are welcome to begin attending the  GriefShare group at any session. Each is “self-contained,”

so you do not have to attend in sequence. You will find encouragement and help whenever you begin.

DIVORCECARE- Does the pain of your divorce still invade your life? Do you struggle with anger, forgiveness, depression, loneliness, new relationships, the pain your children face? DivorceCare can help! DivorceCare is a 12-week study that will help you to process through many of the hurts, anger, and grief of divorce. Each lesson stands alone and the study is repeated so you are able to pick   up missed lessons. Moving on after the initial break-up. Help exam where you are! Directions for the future ~ step-by-step guides to getting oneself in a position to enjoy the life that comes after breaking up or divorce. 

Wednesdays, 6:30 pm,  Room 43.


AL-ANON - To help families and friends of alcoholics recover from the effects of living with the problem drinking

of a relative or friend. We do this by practicing the Twelve Steps, by welcoming and  giving comfort to families of alcoholics, and by giving understanding and encouragement to the alcoholic. Al-Anon Family Groups are a fellowship

of relatives and friendsof alcoholics who share their experience, strength,and hope, in order to solve their common problems. We believe alcoholism is a family illness, and that changed attitudes can aid recovery. Information shared in

the meetings is strictly confidential and anonymous. Newcomers are welcome to join the Al-Anon group at any time,

with the understanding that confidentiality will be observed. Mondays, 7:00 pm, Room 44/46.


HEAVEN'S LULLABY -  A ministry for women of miscarriage. If you are recoveringfrom a miscarriage and

need a friend, call Karla Underwood, 799-6848, to be partnered with someone who has been where you are. 


WINGS — Women In Need of God’s Strength - This half-day retreat helps women learn to refocus and re-energize their spiritual life following a life-changing transition (death, separation, divorce, empty nest, financial struggles, etc.) in a safe environment where women find hope and healing, and God’s purpose for their lives. Speakers, worship and break-out sessions await you. Be on the lookout for 2012 dates.


WOMEN OF DESTINY - Care team members are women who have found freedomand victory in Christ.

They have received training in women’s issues, prayer and personal ministry. They provide a warm heart and 

listening ear. Appointments may be scheduled by calling Lori McCunniff at 794-4015, ext 505.
